I am surprised that many peope have never heard of this0 I have belonged to my local freecycling group for 2 years. Its great! The concept is to give away stuff you aren;t using or might throw out to a home where it will be used- rather than sitting in garage ( or goin to landfill)and forcing some one else to go out a buy a new one. The concept is simple- stuff just laying around being put to use. It encourages you to think about your purchaes and also what you can give away. Also great for decluttering!
The is no membeship fees- its easy to join. Groups I belong to are all done through yahoo groups. There are some for almost every city in North America and also around the world.
The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It’s a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them’s good people). Membership is free.
