This is quite a subjective and people do seem to feel strongly about what cloth diaper they think is best. I have tried pretty much every kind of cloth diaper and cloth diaper cover and wrap you can think of over the year. At some points it has reached near obsession :) They diaper I keep coming back to over and over again and stick with is the Mother -Ease One Size Diapers with the Air-Flow Diaper Cover
I have also tried Fuzzi Bunz, Chinese prefolds with every cover possible, Indisposables, and about 10 other various brands and styles including Nicky’s , Aristocats and bummis. I really like the Nikky terry wrap – ice stretch and texture. I found the cotton and wool nikky;s not really worth the money or hype- they were fine though. I used Chinese prefold cotton when babies were newborn and I found the unusual fold-“twist fold” worked best with my skinny legged son.
Below are some of my opinions on them. I know others have different experiences- for example lots of people SWEAR by Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapering system and I could not get these to work if my life depended on it- they were just awful for us. I really wanted to like these and every time my son had them on I ended up with mess on my hands- the change the sheets in the middle of the night kind of mess.
Mother Ease All-in One: My favourite- wash beautifully, never leaked. You will need about 30 diapers and liners and 4-5 covers for each stage. They are supposed to work from 8-35 lbs. They are far too bulky to work with a newborn- I couldn’t use until my babies were about 6-8 weeks old.
Fuzzi Bunz This is s pocket style diaper. You insert either prefold or insert to absorb in “pocket of diaper. This diaper is quite expensive. They are about 19.00 each plus the insert. I have to say- I really hated these diapers. I bought tons of them because there were so many rave reviews. The leaks were messy and happened every time my son wore them. I gave up. One good thing about these is they re-sell well on ebay. You need to buy different sizes for each stage/size. I know ots of moms who swear by these so give them a try- but I really do NOT like these diapers.
Chinese Pre-Folds: These are bulky and a bit tricky to master. I used these exclusively when baby was a newborn. They work well with the major diaper covers- Nikky, Bummis, etc. They plump up and soften with each wash- so don’t be fooled if you see them
unwashed. There are many different folds- check this site out for different diaper folds.
