I posted earlier this week I would be giving this a whirl. Many were discussing The World of Warcraft on my homeschool lists so I thought I would try it out. I ended up installing the wring version- I was playing Warcraft-Reign of Chaos and not WORLD of Warcraft.. So I d go out and buy the right one- was cheapest at FutureShop at 19.99. You also get a guest pass to try for 10 days. Normally you pay 14.95 US a month to play online ( and this is the only way to play) you can only install on one computer and get one ID. You can set up multiple characters, however. Took me a while to set up and then another hour to get character I wanted. Did this with help with my DD- thank goodness!
I joined an unschoolers guild but haven “met” anyone.
I am so lame at this game. You start out with quests- and my first one was to kill 10 mottled boars. I got killed about 50 times. I then figured out that there were different types of these boars- I was trying to kill level 7 boars and not the easier level 2 boars. This took 3 hours to figure out. Next quest is to delver some food to innkeeper at Razor Hill. I spent 45 minutes in Razor Hill trying to get into the INN. Another ridiculous 1/2 hour to find the inn keeper himself! Wow.
I know 7 year olds are playing this so how can it be this hard!!! :-)
You can learn more about World of Warcraft (the right version) here . Those of us in the know will also call it WoW.
Stay tuned for more of my World of Warcraft misadventures.
