Hats off the California! Starting January first it will ILLEGAL to smoke in a car- even your own- if there is a child in it.
I don’t car that adults people want to do to their own bodies and health but inflicting death cigarettes smoke on the children is at last criminal. Smoking in a car with kids under 13 year old may get you a fine of 100.00. ( Why 13? wish it was older, and why ONLY a $100.00- should be MUCH higher.
The ban will also affect parents and other who smoke on and near playgrounds- you won’t be able to smoke within 25 feet of playground.
It makes me sad that we have to create laws for this- that people are so stupid and selfish that they thinks its okay to smoke a cigarette while pushing a toddler on the swing or light up on the way to day care. I am a big believer in public pressure and personal freedoms- however do I see the need for these laws.
I well remember being trapped in the car with my mom and begging her to open a window while she smoked and how helpless it made me feel. Back then no one thought of the health risk- let alone the comfort of a child over the wants of an “adult” .
