Any chance you would consider relaxing the requirement that the submission be a .gif file? I would suggest also allowing .jpg and .png. Certain types of designs are better suited to one or more of those file formats. Visual quality can suffer when some designs are saved into a .gif format.

I’ve just been designing a logo with my kids.
Can we submit a .png please? Doug is definately right.
Also a png allows a transparent background, so you don’t have to worry what colour page element the logo goes onto.
I’ve a white backgrounf jpg, at 3.4 kb, and a more useful .png one at 13.6.

There’s a spelling mistake on the winning logo - quite sad!
December 16th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
Why is that sad? A spelling mistake like that can be fixed in seconds. Creativity, the guts to put yourself out there and try something new, style and self-confidence can take a lifetime.
Don’t sweat the small stuff :-).

Do a lot of home schooled students work on logos?
Do they have the appropriate software? Illustrator/Photoshop?
