Im mentioned a while ago that my daughter and I have been looking for a new TV series to watch together. We spent several months watching the TV series Roseanne, from start to finish all 9 seasons… and she was quite sad when it was over. She really enjoyed the time we spent and grew to love some of the characters. It also was s good starting pint for discussing some touchy subjects.
We have tried to find some others. My husband suggested ” Beverly Hills 90210 ” (!!!) Which I never watched. We got through the pilot and that was it. She thought is was too “old” for her and quite frankly I hates the show. It was really dated and it seemed to about how to lie to your friends and parents and then be rewarded for it/ The parents were all portrayed as morons- even the supposedly “good one”. I HATE this show.
A show that would be perfect would be Kids of Degrassi Street or Degrassi Junior High (pre-Degrassi High -which is WAY too mature) . but I can’t find on DVD at reasonable price.
We tried The O.C. because some of her schooled friends are watching it. Wow! I have to say i am quite happy that my daughter was pointing out how stupid they all are… She did like on character- Lindsay who seemed like the only sane teen in all of Newport..but she didn’t stick around long. The show glances over some very serious issues- and some crazy ones- I guess I can see why it was a hit… but she nixed that one as well.
I have a very good AND entertaining show. It is Canadian and has one of my favorite titles of all time ” Little Mosque on the Prairie”
It takes place in a small town in Canada – very small. The town has a Muslim population and the stories focus on the interaction of the non-Muslims , Muslims and conservative Muslims. It is not made for kids but I think we will enjoy it.
It is quite funny and very dry. We are about to start season one and I am really looking forward to it!
