Back From Camping- Survived a Week Without Wi-Fi
By Lisa - Homeschooling Mom
Got home late last night – we cut our camping trip a bit short because we were just too hot. The temperature was in the high 90′s and humidity at close to 100%. My husband was miserable and my youngest son was not holding up well. The only way to cool off was to swim- but swimming pool at the campgrounds was in full sun and my son just couldn’t take that much son ( nor should anyone have to..)
I found with the heat we were al getting a bit “weird” and not making a heck of a lot of sense, so I made the executive decision for us all to head home back to our air conditioned house with pool ( and wi-fi!!).
We are back and everyone checking on their Webkins and email.
Some highlights of the trip, I read a GREAT book that I had for a while and had been recommended by so many people ” What Came Before He Shot Her” by Elizabeth George. It was a fascinating look at life in poor London and obstacles people face by the popular mystery writer. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has ben out for about a year so you should be able to get a library or pick up at second hand store.
My daughter was thrilled to get a copy of a book she had misplaced. The Big Book of Girl Stuff and has been devouring every page. She reads and re-reads her books over and over again so no problem for me to get a copy of a book she has all ready read. I paid 19.99 for it and I am sure I got it a Costco last year for about 12.00. ARGH. At least I bought at small town book store.
What a wonderful luxury to sit on a camp chair and read non-stop for hours on end! Heaven for me :-)

Camping is a great way to relax and connect with the children. It’s also a fantastic way to leave the ‘puters, TVs and other electronic distractions behind.
Sounds like you had a great trip.
