This has long been a dream of mine. Every time I sit in chair at a ballet call and listen to other moms complain about their kids or talk about the need to “discipline” their kids I think to myself I HAVE to get out of hear. When I stand in line at grocery store and watch a mom yelling at her 2 year old and just grit my teeth and sigh and think what could be.
For many, they wil find a haven of like minded people in the truly awe inspiring White Hawk Ecovillage . The first time I have ever heard or seen a RADICAL unschooling international community. Yes you read that right one does exist!
I have rad dome of the information on their website and it does sound intriguing.
There are a coupe of negatives ( sorry!) Reading through membership requirement some do directly conflict with unschooling values- some that leap out is enforced community work each week and mandatory membership or 2 committees by each member. yes, not a big deal- but I do wonder if right off the bat there are rules for ow you MUST be involved.
I know there must be some kind of structure for this sort of community to work – so maybe I am being nit picky.
The concept looks wonderful and my hats off to all who have made this come to fruition. It looks just lovely.
I wanted to send link for this to my husband – but may hold back as he is liable to put an for sale sign on front lawn tomorrow :-)
You can also follow the journey on one radical unschooling mom and her family as they prepare to movie into White Hawks at
