Over scheduled and trying to fix!
By Lisa - Homeschooling Mom

I have been long awaiting the slow down in our activities and love just staying at home. doing crafts, baking and doing as little as possible :-)
We are totally over schedules and I am working on ways to fix that. We may have to drop a couple of much loved activities because I just cant handle all the driving .
It been a re real dilemma for me having kids go to their activities which they love or me turning into a crazy person by Thursday.
My husband is working on a very intense project and not around alot the last couple fo months so he hasn’t been able to help with the driving to and from dance, hockey, choir, church. etc stuff.
I a a woman on the edge!
This week we have been somewhat mellow and did some crafts- which was a ton of fun at a craft day at homeschool moms nearby. The kids her are working on a cool paper craft called Paper Quilling. we picked up supplies at dollar store and made some inertia flowers from rolled paper.

Gee.. you sound really busy! I remember when I was younger and my dad used to have to do all the driving to and from hockey, volleyball, football, horse riding, music lessons, and school itself.. although I´m not sure how we managed to fit that in AS WELL as all of our activities! Try and take some time out to relax if you can.. it´s hard I know, but we don´t want you being a crazy woman for Christmas!! Sarah

This is such a timely blog post. Just today I was writing my goals down for 2009, and for the most part, it is to slow down, ‘trim the fat’ on projects and activities that really are not meaningful, and enjoy more. I have become a bit of a ‘crazy dad’ lately because I am stretched too thin. Thanks for the great post.

Sometimes that’s all it takes. Ten minutes out of a hectic week makes everything better :)
For at least ten minutes.

Got my nephews a computer so they can be smarter than me. They have taken to it like fish in water.
They love it. Now we have to limit their time on it. We have a bunch of educational games for them and it hopefully will give them some confidence when school starts.

It’s interesting I came across this post because I have been thinking about the amount of what I call “activity clutter” I have in my life. It’s all about choices and values. I believe it is important for parents to regularly take some time for themselves to recharge, both as a couple and as individuals. We make sure we are healthy so we can care for those that we love.

same is the case with me… I also love to stay at home and do some creative activity. Sometimes we get fed up of being over scheduled… :(
