*sigh* I seem to hit a roadblock when reading. This year I started reading AGAIN Game of Thrones series. The trouble with me is that when I start a book I don’t like to start a new one until I finish the other.
Fast forward months later and I still haven’t finished Game of Thrones nor have I read anything else. ARGH.
Sooo.. I gave myself permission to start a new book… and breezed through 3 in in 3 days.
Sickened: The True Story of a Lost Childhood
Sickened: The True Story of a Lost Childhood was an autobiography pf a girl raised with a mother who had Munchhausen by Proxy syndrome. It reminded me SLIGHTLY of The Glass Castle: A Memoir in that it was a recollection of a horrible childhood. It was not nearly as well written and lacked the insight and depth of Glass Castle.
It wasn’t a bad book but I would have liked a bit more meat. I thought the ending was a bit of a cop out and wasn’t satisfied by the end of it all.
The Silent Wife: A Novel .. bit of a theme here- books that remind me of… this time The Silent Wife is very reminiscent of Girl Gone. The narrative of the story is told alternating between husband and wofe as their marriage starts to disintegrate. Not so much as a murder mystery as it is a deconstruction of a marriage. I liked it. On a sad note- the author died just before the book was published.
Mistress was a bit of light summer fun you’d expect from James Patterson. Plot bit convoluted to repeat here but has intrigue and moves at a snappy pace.
