Homeschool Web Hosting-Best Web Hosting Choice For Re-Seller Account?

I have just so much free time over the holidays that I am looking for new hobbies.. (cough.. cough) . I have been thinking about offering low cost web hosting/blog hosting and set-up for homeschooling families and/or kids for at least year now. I can’t give it waay but I want to be able to do it for next to nothing. I have set up at least 50 blogs for other homeschooling moms and lots of teens as well and monthly hsotong fees can add up. I am wondering if some one has experience with re-seller accounts? I am happy-ish with my current web host but they don’t offer re-seller option. I was looking at a site that helps you make a web hosting choice , they recommend gatorhost.com which is about 25.00/ month- and that seems a bit steep. Any input appreciated

Starting Up and Hosting Your Own Blog or Website

Many of my friends are amazed that I set-up and host my own . Maybe amazed isn’t quite the right word- just surprised at how easy it is. I have many friends that are talented writers and I encourage them to set up there own blog- MANY times now I have gone ahead and them up . You can now pretty much get an out of the box package with hosting companies. Not only that- cheap hosting abounds. Setting up business hosting ‘online store is very easy. I had a friend setup site where she sold he home made soy candles- and was able to take credit cards and online payments within minutes. I know that Aqhost.com ecommerce hosting offers a full range of add-ons to the hosting for start up businesses.

There are lots of way to set up a site or blog and make money from home. You can set up a blog and run Google Adsense ads. Another homeschool mom in my group writes tutorials for web applications (Adobe Photoshop) and offers them for download for a small fee.

I am getting quite a few entires for my Best Homeschooling Site Awards Logo Design Contest- I have been thinking that many of the kids and parents who have entered could easliy offer their talents for hire. What a great way to showcase there designs and talenst- creating a web site and offering design services. What a terrific learning experience!
My own daughter set up a website when she was 8… She made beaded bracelets and we scanned finished product and offered them on on her site- with a shopping cart et al! What a feeling of pride and accomplishment to see her stuff up on a site and having people actually purchase! Think about ways you could take a passion or hobby and turn it it to some pocket money- or more- with your own site or blog.

Make Money Between Diaper Changes

Or if you can type with one hand… while you nurse :-)
Seems like everywhere you turn there is another way for moms to make money at the computer.

A few of years ago my husband used to make fun of me when i spent about 20 minutes every month or so filling our online questionnaire… for 5.00 (!)
Seems like more and more companies are utilized the force of computer savvy moms to make money in marketing. One of the newest companies, PickJack recently launched.
The concept is to sign up, answer polls ( or write polls) and earn points. Later you can sell back your points to pickjack for money (paid via paypal). I just recently signed up.
You can earn points this way:
Each time a poll you wrote is answered: 5 points (Unlimited)

Each time you answer a poll: 5 points (Unlimited)

Each photo you upload to your profile: 5 points (max of 50 points per day)

Posting a comment: 5 points (max of 50 points per day)

Adding a friend: 5 points (max of 50 points per day)

Opening a message: 5 points (max of 50 points per day)

Sending a message: 5 points (max of 50 points per day)

As of today, Exchange Rate $1=91 Points .

I am not sure how they make money… Can’t figure it out :-)
Anyway- will keep you posted on it. If you happen to sign up- let me know if it is worth while for other moms.

Help End World Hunger- Play Word Game with “Free Rice” Online Vocabulary Game

The FreeRice site (FreeRice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com.) , has two objectives:
1.Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free

The game is sort of like Word Power in Reader’s Digest. Lots of fun!

What so cool about it? Play and for every word you get right- they donate 50 grains of rice to United Nations ( made possible by advertisers on the site). I all ready donated 500+ grains.. this hour :-)
The site is fairly new- but growing by leaps and bounds!
warnng- highly addictive!
