One of the problems young or fledgling writer’s just starting out have is getting people to read their work .
Several of the kids in my homeschool groups (and by kids I mean pretty much anyone younger than me! ) are involved in all kinds of writing. My best friend’s son has written countless Simpson episodes. My daughter has a penchant for poetry- and in the last year she has evolved into a quasi- Slam style of writing. Another friend of mine is a published writer - a columnist in a popular homeschool magazine and she writes wonderful short stories and is always looking for input.
Many writers starting belong to online writers circle : A community forum where you can go and be among other writer’s, share and read other’s work- and get valuable insight into your own. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Have a tricky grammar question? Post in in the forum. You can share your screenplay, poem, fiction , novel ideas and more. Just another wonderful Internet resource for homeschool families.

I am in the midst of compiling a list of the top 25 homeschool sites for 2007. The sites just need to be homeschooling or UNschooling related. That pretty much leaves it wide open- in my home the webkinz site, http://www.webkinz.com/ would be WAY up there. I also really love Aplusmath.com for when my daughter insists on designing her own math worksheets, ( for the record- every once in a while she goes on a math burst and decides to tackle a new math skill. This site is great- you can print endless math worksheets of varying degrees of difficulty .. you can print out mating answer sheet ) .
Does the site inspire you or your child? Is this site in your Favorites? Do you fund yourself going back to the site time and time again? Please share with us! Homeschoolers are often times quite reliant on the Internet for information and idea- please share them
Just post your favorite site or sites in comments section.

FINALLY! An online, FREE version of a family favorite of ours- Blokus.
The official Blokus website has come out with a flash version of their Blokus board game.
The site also has info on strategy, rules, etc .
If you have not tried the game - well worth the time and money. It is a game even my non-game enjoying partner ( and yes, I married him anyway) likes to play. It is good for about ages 6+.

Sign up for a 14-day free trial of GamePass here and get two free games ($40 Value.)

Read about this organization today in Mothering Magazine. I had not heard of them until today-sadly. The National African American Homeschoolers Alliance offers a wealth of support to the growing numbers of African-American families who have taken the learning of the children into their own hands. From the article it sounded like a terrific support group. It peaked my interest and I just spent some time looking over their site,
http://www.naaha.com/ . The site is a valuable homeschooling resource for any family. Take a look!
